Jonava Railway Station is an architectural monument. It was built in 1871 on the Liepaja-Romnai railway branch, enabling connections with Vilnius, Šiauliai, Liepaja and St Petersburg. At the end of the 19th century, Jonava became an important railway point in Lithuania. A memorial plaque on the wall of the railway station bears witness to the fact that many exiles - from Jonava, Kaunas, Ukmergė and others - were deported from here to Siberia between 1941 and 1952.
