Located on the Nemunas bank, Kačerginė, titled as the most Lithuanian resort in the inter-war period, has been fascinating holidaymakers by its tranquility, enchanting landscapes and unique architecture.

Located in the curve of the Nemunas, the town rapidly expanded and became better looking after the First World War, thus, in 1933, Kačerginė was granted a status of a resort. Titled as the "Resort of Artists", this resting place, was a beloved place by scientists, writers and artists. This place was chosen by Lithuanian intellectuals for search of inspiration.

In Kačerginė, Jonas Biliūnas wrote the tragic lines of "The End of Brisius" and the story "Sad Tale". Vincas Mykolaitis-Putinas also spent his summers here. A sculptural bench park "Nature and Man: In Memoriam" was created in his memory, where the "Poetry Spring" celebration takes place every year. During the stay of the composers Stasys Šimkus and Juozas Naujalis, the pine forests would echo their beautiful works. To honour Antanas Martinaitis, a painter who lived in Kačerginė town, his work exhibitions are organised every year.

One of the most prominent Lithuanian architects, Vytautas Landsbergis-Žemkalnis and writer Pranas Mašiotas, had built villas in the town. The latter creator’s name gave rise to the name of the park in Kačerginė, where characters of the fairy tales come to life in oak sculptures.

Unique examples of wooden architecture in this resort can be seen until now. The villas of Brigade General of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, doctor Pranas Vaiciuška and the prominent interwar engineer Viktoras Rėkavaitis that were brought to a new life after restoration, preserved the authenticity of interwar architecture.

Not only the architecture and historical characters attract guests to the town. The picturesque routes of Kačerginė open the unique curves of the Nemunas and surround with the pinewood peace. One of them is the Spring Path twisting across the green forest. The 6 km long path of natural forest invites to dive into the spectacular natural world and enjoy the unique melody created by the ripple of springs and songs of birds.

The pinewood path leads tourists to the full of legends Pypliai Mound located near Kačerginė. The legend says that the Duke Pyplys was poured the mound to honour his lost son.

Kačerginė is a gem of the Nemunas coast, fascinating with its architecture, history and, of course, the wonderful nature. In the town each guest can find everything he or she might be looking for: inspirational, health or tranquility moments in the shade of pines.
