Šilutė is renowned for its vast, inundated meadows, the abundance of chirping birds, the blossoms of magnolias in spring, and the realm of water and wind. The foundation of the town of Šilutė lies in the settlements of Šilokarčema, Žibai, Verdainė, and Cintjoniškiai, where the most vivid remnants of impressive East Prussian architecture have been preserved. Numerous ancient and ornate buildings, such as the fire station, the elementary school, the narrow-gauge railway known as "Siaurukas," the station, and others, still stand in these areas. Šilutė's history is evoked by the old market square near the Šyša River, and the complex of Hugo Schöning's manor. The symbol of the town is the Evangelical Lutheran Church adorned with frescoes depicting Biblical scenes.
Today, Šilutė is a rapidly growing tourist destination, attracting visitors with the uniqueness of its surroundings and distinctive heritage.
