A white colour romantic mansion visible on the shores of Druskonis Lake has been shown on the postcards from Druskininkai for more than a century. It was in 1905-1907, when this palace was built by one of the richest people in Druskininkai, the banker Adolfas Kiersnovskis. This edifice was intended for gatherings of his family and aristocracy. Today, while looking at the tower with a scenic viewpoint, the terraces and wide stairs to the Lake, it seems that soon men and women will appear with their young boys and girls, all of them dressed up and wishing to experience romantic affairs, characteristic of resorts or wanting to recover health lost. Such kind people used to admire Druskininkai at the turn of the 20th century.

Before World War II, the Kiersnovskiai were forced to leave their beautiful home. After Soviet occupation started, a pioneer camp was established here and was operating until the year 1977. Then the Villa was renovated, made a Civil Register Office and, unfortunately, lost a historically valuable part thereof. In 1996, after Lithuania has restored its independence, Druskininkai Museum was founded here, although part of the building was left for wedding ceremonies. Exposition of the Museum, the stories told by the guides as well as educational programmes contribute much to rehabilitation of the SPA town’s guests. Walking among historical items exposed that tell us about eternal wish of human beings to relax, the majority of the visitors acknowledges that they find a great desire in themselves to live more slowly, more often take a stroll and admire nature. Namely here, a real cocktail for health is on visitors’ hands including mineral water from springs to help the body in coping with today’s life issues.
