On November 21, 2022, director Eimuntas Nekrošius would have celebrated his 70th birthday. Wishing to honor the memory of E. Nekrošius (1952–2018) and his approaching anniversary, the people of Šiluva took the initiative to commemorate the maestro, and on July 8 a bronze chair-sculpture was unveiled. The director had brought an old wooden chair-crafted by his father-from his childhood home in Pažobris village near Šiluva. It became a prop in many of his productions and, symbolically, it still "performs" today.
Nekrošius deeply loved Šiluva and had a favorite spot in John Paul II Square, where he would sit to reflect and observe his own productions. The sculpture was placed precisely in that location.
The sculpture’s author is Sculptor Sergėjus Plotnikovas, and the architect is Saulius Druskis.
