The mound is located on the outskirts of the highlands, on the left bank of the Akmena river. Archaeologists have not yet thoroughly studied the mound, but from its appearance they guess that one of the castles of Karšuva land Kaltinėnai region should have been standing here. The castle was used during the battles with the Teutonic forces.
