A contemporary bronze sculpture “Wolf” by Italian artist Davide Rivalta now stands on the Gediminas Hill viewing platform in Vilnius. The artwork symbolically connects two origin legends - Rome’s Capitoline Wolf and the Iron Wolf from Grand Duke Gediminas’ dream. The life-sized sculpture marks 35 years of restored diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Italy and highlights the cultural dialogue between the two countries.

The piece enriches the historical landscape of Gediminas Hill and the collection of the National Museum of Lithuania, inviting visitors to rediscover Vilnius’ identity, its legends, and its ties to European culture. In Rivalta’s work, animal figures often serve as a symbolic bridge between history, nature, and humanity, and here the wolf embodies the city’s beginnings and its living cultural memory.

Arsenalo g. 5, Vilnius
