A true mariner knows that talking about the wind on a ship or whistling is not allowed. A loud whistle summons unfavorable winds and misfortune. In sailing ships, the wind was considered in bundles with three knots: to summon a gentle wind, the first knot is untied, and for a strong wind – all three.

The largest exhibits of the museum are presented in the old fishing boat area. In the average fishing trawler "Dubingiai," there is an exhibition about the Soviet era titled "Long Voyage."

The average fishing trawler "Dubingiai" weighs an impressive 330 tons. This maritime vessel was built in 1961 at the "Baltija" shipyard in Klaipėda and was known for its excellent catches. In 1972, it set a record by catching 30 tons of fish during a single voyage. The ship was brought to the Old Fishing Boats Quay in 1986.

The Lithuanian Maritime Museum takes pride in the kurėnas – a flat-bottomed Curonian Lagoon fishing boat, which participates not only in scientific expeditions in the Curonian Lagoon but also represents the museum and the entire country in foreign expeditions and events.

The quay also exhibits the steel trawl "PTB–7167" and the small fishing trawler "Kolyma" (MŽT–90).
