The monument, built in 1975, commemorates the battles of the 1863 uprising that took place in the Rūdninkai area. The insurgents, led by Liudvikas Narbutas, Leonas Krainskis, and other commanders, successfully fought against the Tsarist army but were later dispersed. Several battles occurred in the Rūdninkai Forest against Russian forces, where the insurgents suffered significant losses but demonstrated determination and bravery. This monument serves as a reminder of their fight for freedom and their sacrifices.
