Švendubrė is an old street village, an architectural monument, first mentioned in written documents in 1620. The village is next to Raigardas valley. Raigardas is a sacred ravine that was formed 5000 years ago. 32 ancient settlements have been found in the valley. The famous Lithuanian painter and composer M. K. Čiurlionis was very fond of Raigardas valley and Švendubrė village. In 1907 he painted the famous triptych "Raigardas" based on realistic features of local surroundings. An old oak tree grows in the fields, which is believed to have inspired M. K. Čiurlionis to paint the painting Sonata IV "Andante". The mythological Švendubrė stone with bowls, also called the "Devil's Stone", is famous for its legends and traditions. It is the 10th biggest boulder in Lithuania.
